FAQ's
What impact do the solar panels have on water temperature?
BioHaven FPV cools water. The limited testing we’ve done so far suggests that water under BioHaven and solar panel shade will experience a 3 to 5 degree Fahrenheit heat reduction. It will also prevent evaporative loss.
How can we make sure floating solar does no harm?
It’s our responsibility to track any waterway’s health. The island master in charge of a launch will be provided with the appropriate resources to quantify our impact and will be expected to stay responsive to ecosystem transitions.
What is the impact on fish?
BioHaven Floating Islands impact both engines of life, sunlight and biochemical. This means they add a new factor into any waterway’s ability to cycle nutrients up and into a food web. So instead of nutrients stacking up and leading to eventual disaster, islands cycle nutrients into the appropriate biota associated with healthy and productive water.
Does the NanoHaven need battery storage?
Unlike conventional aeration bubbles, nano-bubbles do not disappear, but stay in the water table for up to two weeks, so, nano-bubbler systems do not need to operate at night. This means that the only battery storage required is the “startup” power, to reactivate compressors when the sun is up.
